about

I’ve played these games before these games I’ve played before.
I hear the violin but cannot see the strings.
I see the men in the canyon.
The lens, through which nothing becomes it all. A bargaining token.
I’ve played these games before.

Games we invented. Every one.
Separate corners and the rules still come out all the same.
I’ve played this game before.
Facing the canyon. Screaming in.
Holding the empty space of a violin.
Forced myself to see the men screaming back. Squinting through lenses
I’ve played these games before.

And oh that song.
That beautiful song.
The one from the hands of the emperor’s apprentice.
We hear, us all. We know we do. As one.
And we dance to show how loud we hear the violins.
And the men in the canyon copy every note.
We see, us all. We know we do. Squinting through lenses.
I’ve played this game before.

Imagine it all.
Us all.
Holding the best and then some.
Being the best and more.
The best of us. As one.

Until the glass shatters.
Then, it all. From within the ever forgotten. Our strength.
The men from the canyon disappear.
The violins play their last note.
And we hear the last words of ourselves, the others alike.

I’ve told lies before.
